Your pet has undergone surgery under general anaesthetic. To ensure a comfortable and safe recovery, please follow these recommendations:

1️⃣Post-operative care

🥣Food

🤩You can start feeding them once they’re fully awake.
🤩The first feed should be about three-quarters of their usual portion.
🤩Water should be freely available.

🥏Activity

For 14 days, limit strenuous physical activity:
🤩no jumping,
🤩no active games,
🤩no running,
🤩no bathing or swimming.

🧴Aftercare for the suture

🤩The wound must be kept dry and clean.
🤩Do not get the wound wet for 14 days.
🤩Do not treat the wound without a doctor’s advice.
🤩If there is a grey spray on the wound, do not touch or wash it off.
🤩Do not allow your pet to lick or scratch the wound (use a collar or a coat if necessary).

🚽Toilet block

🤩Do not change the litter in the tray unless your vet has advised otherwise.

💊Pain relief

🤩After the operation, painkillers or anti-inflammatory medication are prescribed for 2–3 days.
🤩🐱Exception: male cats usually do not require additional pain relief after neutering.

🆗What is normal after surgery

Possible:

🤩Drowsiness during the first 24 hours,
🤩A slight loss of appetite,
🤩A small swelling or 'bump' at the site of the suture,
🤩A cautious gait.

⚠️Seek medical attention immediately if:

🤩the wound is wet, bleeding or oozing,
🤩severe swelling or redness,
🤩the animal has refused food for more than 24 hours,
🤩vomiting, diarrhoea or severe weakness,
🤩difficulty urinating or failure to urinate,
🤩the suture has come apart.
