About emergency care.

It is perfectly normal for pet owners to pay attention to any changes in their pets' behavior or health. It is better to be wrongly alarmed than to miss a symptom that could be the beginning of a serious illness.

However, it often happens that pet owners are convinced that immediate treatment is necessary, when in fact the condition is not urgent.

Let's figure out when you need to go to the clinic "by ambulance" and when you can and should MAKE AN APPOINTMENT with a therapist or a narrow-profile specialist.

When is urgent (emergency) care needed?

Contact us immediately if your pet:

• Torsion or acute gastric dilatation (AGD) (Main symptoms: rapid bloating, increasing weakness and shortness of breath, restlessness, nausea or vomiting of mucus.)

• difficult or rapid breathing, wheezing, pale or blue tongue, weakness, neck stretched upward, colorless or bloody discharge from the nose when exhaling.

• convulsions, loss of consciousness

• heavy bleeding

• sudden weakness, collapse, sudden paralysis of the limbs

• excessive vomiting or bloody diarrhea

• trauma (open fracture, fall, traffic accident, bites)

• suspicion of poisoning or swallowing a foreign object

• urinary retention - frequent urge to urinate, dribbling urine (possibly with blood), pain during urination.

• Aortic thromboembolism - occurs in cats, most often due to getting stuck between windows in ventilation mode, in fences, etc.

• electric shock

• rescue from fire

• heatstroke, hypothermia, frostbite

How is assistance provided?

• The animal is examined by an emergency doctor/intensive care doctor.
• Initial stabilization of the condition is being carried out.
• If necessary — urgent diagnostics (ultrasound, X-ray, tests)
• Once the patient has stabilized, the owner is informed of the condition and next steps (appointment, surgery, treatment at the intensive care unit).

APPOINTMENTS BY APPOINTMENT ONLY

• If the animal's condition has caught your attention and shows signs of being different from normal, you should collect its medical history and possibly observe its condition throughout the day.
• If the discomfort is short-lived and passes quickly, keep this information in your notes.
• If the symptoms recur or worsen, call the veterinary clinic to make an appointment with a doctor.
