Pets are no less likely than humans to have dental diseases. They can be caused by improper hygiene, an unbalanced diet, genetic predisposition, congenital pathologies, or trauma.
When do you need a veterinary dentist?
- For preventive purposes, it is recommended to have a checkup with a specialist every 6 months.
- For treatment purposes, you should visit a dentist if your pet has the following symptoms: bad breath, broken or damaged teeth, dental plaque, unwillingness to eat solid food, refusal to play with toys, tooth loss, excessive salivation, swollen or bleeding gums.
What does a dental consultation at Zoolux look like?
The primary dental appointment is a visit during which the dentist conducts a clinical examination of the patient, assesses the oral cavity and analyzes the history of health, personality traits, and previous treatment. The result of such a visit is a diagnostic and treatment plan. An important element of the consultation is also teaching pet owners how to care for their pets' teeth. The veterinary dentist provides advice on brushing techniques and the use of specialized oral care products.
An appointment with a dentist is available by appointment.
Our doctors perform:
- sanitation of the oral cavity according to the SONAT protocol (Comprehensive Oral Health Assessment and Treatment), removal of permanent and temporary teeth
- treatment of inflammatory processes in the oral cavity
- endodontic dental treatment, orthodontic bite correction in accordance with the requirements of the European Convention for the Protection of Pets, and treatment of tumors in the oral cavity.
Zoolux has all the necessary equipment to carry out the above manipulations. An additional advantage is the availability of our own laboratory, intensive care unit, and the cooperation of narrow-profile doctors in one clinic, which greatly expands our ability to treat your pet.
A feature of any manipulation in veterinary dentistry is the use of general anesthesia. Its use allows you to protect the animal from stress and ensures the quality of any procedure.
How to prepare for surgery?
Before the procedure, it is necessary to observe a fasting diet for 6-12 hours, depending on the age, size, and breed of your pet. Water is unlimited. It is recommended that you bring wet or dry food so that the animal can be fed immediately after waking up and stabilization. Blood tests and echocardiography (ultrasound of the heart) are also required. These examinations are performed on the day of surgery or the day before by appointment to assess the general condition of the animal and determine possible risks associated with the use of anesthesia.
How is the recovery after surgery?
Until the pet comes out of anesthesia, it is under the supervision of specialists. If there are no additional indications, you can take it home afterwards. In the first days, it is better to feed soft food, and the rest of the recommendations for postoperative care are given by the veterinary dentist individually.
A timely visit to the veterinary dentist will help maintain your pet's oral health and prevent the development of existing diseases. Remember that proper dental care is essential for your pet's overall health and well-being.
Our specialists work hard every day to ensure that our four-legged patients receive the highest level of dental care.
