Endoscopic surgery and diagnostics
Endoscopy
-
Endoscopy is a procedure for examining the cavities of a living organism. It is carried out using a flexible or rigid endoscope with image display on the screen
Almost all endoscopic examinations are performed under general anesthesia, and therefore require proper preparation and examination of the patient before anesthesia.
List of available endoscopic examinations:
- Videootoscopy - examination of external auditory canals.
Videootoscopy belongs to additional diagnostic methods, the necessity and expediency of which is determined by the doctor. It allows to obtain the best visualization of the auditory canal, tympanic membrane, and, if necessary, the middle ear cavity. During video otoscopy, certain medical procedures can be performed, such as irrigation of the external auditory canal, middle ear, biopsy, removal of polyps and foreign bodies.
- Rhinoscopy is an examination of the nasal cavity. It is carried out in two stages: posterior retrograde rhinoscopy allows to examine the nasopharyngeal lumen and choanae, anterior integral rhinoscopy allows to examine the nasal passages and shells.
Indications: sneezing, nasal discharge, nosebleeds, nasal breathing difficulties, sneezing back, pain and deformity of the facial part of the skull, known episode of foreign body inhalation.
Often, X-ray diagnostics is required before rhinoscopy
- Laryngoscopy is an examination of the larynx to assess its structure and function.
Indications: stridor, poor exercise tolerance, shortness of breath, cyanosis of the mucous membranes, change or loss of voice, cough after eating and drinking. It is usually performed as a component of laryngotracheoscopy or laryngotracheobronchoscopy.
- Laryngotracheobronchoscopy is an examination of the larynx, trachea and bronchi.
It is indicated for dogs of brachycephalic breeds to assess changes in the larynx and lower respiratory tract and for breeds at risk of tracheal collapse. For other patients: in case of suspected inhalation of foreign objects, neoplasms and chronic diseases of the lower respiratory tract. During the procedure, bronchoalveolar lavage (BAL) can be collected for further cytological, bacteriological or other specific studies, as well as biopsy of intraluminal neoplasms.
- Esophagogsatroduodenoscopy - examination of the esophagus, stomach, duodenum.
It is indicated in case of suspected pathologies of the esophagus, stomach, duodenum.
It makes it possible to remove a foreign body from the upper gastrointestinal tract without surgery, as well as to take a biopsy.
The possibility of duodenoscopy depends on the size of the patient and the underlying disease.
- Colonoscopy is an examination of the large intestine.
It requires careful preparation for up to several days before the examination.
Indications: chronic colon diarrhea, tenesmus, blood and mucus in the feces, suspected colon neoplasm, need for biopsy.
- Cystourethroscopy is an examination of the bladder and urethra.
It is performed only on female dogs or males with urethrostomy.
Indications: chronic or recurrent urinary tract infections, blood in the urine, difficulty urinating, urinary incontinence.
- Vaginoscopy is the only manipulation from the list that can usually be performed without anesthesia. Separately, vaginoscopy is performed by a reproductive specialist for specific indications or during artificial insemination. Vaginoscopy is always performed as a component of cystourethroscopy.

Important!!
The cost of endoscopic examinations consists of THREE parts: 1) Examination – a doctor’s inspection and assessment of the condition of the area being examined. 2) Procedure with supplies—Performing the procedure using the necessary consumables, instruments, and equipment. 3) Anesthesiological support—calculated individually based on the patient’s weight, the degree of anesthesiological risk, and the duration of the procedure. The total cost of the service is determined by adding these components together.
Appointment with a doctor specializing in endoscopic surgery and diagnostics
examination, consultation, determination of further procedures
Anesthetic support
depending on the weight and degree of anesthetic risk
Rhinoscopy (without anesthesia)
weight up to 10 kg, examination of the nasal passages and nasopharynx
Rhinoscopy (up to 10 kg) (Procedure performed using the necessary supplies, instruments, and equipment. No anesthesia required.)
Weight up to 10 kg; examination of the nasal passages and nasopharynx
Rhinoscopy weighing more than 10 kg (without anesthesia)

Esophagogastroduodenoscopy (without anesthesia)
Examination of the pharynx, esophagus, stomach. Sometimes duodenum is also examined. It can be done to remove a foreign body
Esophagogastroduodenoscopy (Procedure performed using the necessary supplies, instruments, and equipment. No anesthesia required)
Examination of the pharynx, esophagus, and stomach. Sometimes the duodenum as well. May be performed to remove a foreign object
Endoscopic removal of a foreign body (without anesthesia)
Minimally invasive removal of foreign objects using an endoscope. This procedure is most commonly performed on the stomach or esophagus, and less commonly on the trachea and bronchi.
Laryngotracheobronchoscopy (without anesthesia)
Examination of the larynx, trachea, bronchi, BAL can be taken at the same time if there are suspicions of lower respiratory tract diseases
Laryngotracheobronchoscopy (Procedure performed using the necessary supplies, instruments, and equipment. ! Without anesthesia)
Examination of the larynx, trachea, and bronchi; a sputum sample may be collected at the same time if lower respiratory tract disease is suspected.
Bronchoalveolar lavage sampling (without anesthesia)
A washout of small bronchi and alveoli. The collected sample is examined cytologically. It can also be sent for bacterial culture or PCR for specific infections
